a nickel near Eddie's Market in Charles Village

Sure, the picture isn't the best angle (I literally have been taking these photos in the exact spot that I find the change), but the food may be some of the best. Eddie's Market on St. Paul's street has been serving Hopkins students, Baltimoreans, and visiting parents and tourists for over 50 years.

The market offers reasonable prices for fresh and hard-to-find ingredients. While many locals use Eddie's for their grocery store, I have always used it for its deli and sandwich shop. With over 20 different sandwich options including specialty sandwiches, overstuffed sandwiches, and make-your-owns; Eddie's selection is unbeatable. I have two favorites. My go-to is the "fabulous SMOKIN' JAYS" (a simple sandwich boasting deli fresh turkey breast, mozzarella cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a French roll. When I am feeling more adventurous I dive into the Louisiana Lady. This spicy sandwich boasts Cajun roast beef, hot pepper cheese, lettuce, tomato, and horseradish sauce on a French roll. It is amazing.

If you have never been, please stop on by. The owner Jerry Gordon is very friendly and has owned the store for 32 years and counting (with the store being in his family since 1962), and a large amount of the staff has been there for over a decade as well.

Interesting fact: Eddie's Market in Charles Village is NOT a division of the Eddie's Market in Roland Park. Baltimore City used to have 26 or so Eddie's Markets before Safeway and Giant, but once the big chains moved all in, the St. Paul Supermarkets managed to snatch up 3 Eddie's (with the current one being the last one standing).
